Senwes and personnel contributes to the Stilfontein
fund

The agricultural company Senwes, in unison with
some of its personnel members in their personal capacity, has recently
made a contribution to help relieve the food shortage in Stilfontein.
Senwes Grain donated ten tons of maize meal to the Stilfontein relief
fund in June. Senwes personnel at the company’s head office in
Klerksdorp also took the initiative to raise necessities for infants, to
donate to the fund. Apart from this, Senwes’s retail shop in
Potchefstroom launched a project to help the families of Stilfontein
that were left without an income after DRD Gold’s Buffelsfontein and
Hartbeesfontein mines were liquidated.
Mr Hennie Groenewald, Shop Manager, said the branch sent e-mail
messages to all Senwes personnel, requesting them to each donate a bag
of maize meal. The reaction was overwhelming and 600 bags of flour, two
tons of maize that will be traded for maize meal and approximately R2
000 worth of groceries were delivered to Stilfontein, from where it will
be packed and distributed to families in need.
Mr Johan Grobler, Assistant General Manager Corporate Marketing, said as
part of its social responsibility, Senwes gladly offers its help to
communities in which it operates. “Senwes is deeply touched by the need
of hundreds of families in Stilfontein, as was every employee of Senwes
who personally contributed to help relieve the need. Senwes will also
participate in the OFM Stereo initiative on 21 July when the public will
be challenged to pledge their contributions towards the Stilfontein
relief fund,” Johan added.
