Quoting the group distribution development director of JCB, David Lumley-Wood, “The new partnership between Senwes Equipment and JCB is an absolutely perfect match.”
Senwes Scenario met up with the visiting JCB team of David Lumley-Wood (Group Distribution Development Director), Andrew Boyers (Business Development Manager Africa) and Matthew Barkas (Territory Manager Africa) when they visited Senwes head office on Thursday, 29 September 2016.
Lumley-Wood elaborated why they chose to partner with Senwes Equipment: “Senwes Equipment is a fantastic, strong and well respected partner. We were looking for a business that understands the agricultural sector and customers in South Africa. And what we found was Senwes Equipment, who is a well funded and professional organisation.”
Together the two powerhouses are kicking out a process that will be rolled out to all branches with the message that sales and service will be the key focus area – “So that the customers know that they have guaranteed service back-up”.
Although JCB may be most well-known for the construction side of their business, JCB is in fact a business with equipment across a whole range of segments - “Today we split our business between construction, agriculture and mining.”

Product-wise they will focus initially on the bachoe loaders with an already established market AND more excitingly, the telescopic handlers. Senwes Equipment’s Managing Executive, Ferdie Pieterse, had this to say about this new era they are entering with JCB, “These premium products will become part of our portfolio and will add tremendous value to our agricultural and light industrial client base.”
The list of premium products which will be rolled out includes Mini Excavators, Rough terrain forklifts, Telescopic handlers, Telescopic Wheel Loaders and Wheel Loaders with the Telescopic handlers currently the most in demand.

Excellent Services

Pieterse said that all the products are already marketed at branches but stock is not available at all branches. He added that parts are already on the Equip system and can be ordered from all service points with stock already at workshops.
Excellent services are also guaranteed with training of personnel already underway which will run continuously on the parts as well as technical services side.

Grow the agriculture side of the business

JCB’s aim is to build an entirely new market as well. They have well over 300 different types of machines, so there are endless opportunities.
Lumley-Wood said that it has always been their ambition to grow the agricultural business here, and it absolutely hinges on finding a high quality and the right partner like Senwes Equipment.

The road up to now

Negotiations already started in May 2016 whereafter a business model was successfully presented to JCB and after several visits from UK management the contract was officially signed in September. And as they say, the rest is history...
Senwes Equipment shares the values of JCB. We are now partners for the long term and the chemistry is excellent.
